I love you all, but there are simply too few people that I know on Livejournal.  Check this one though.  Maybe I'll update it more than once a month!

True Story

February 3rd, 2007 (05:19 pm)

I just spilled stain remover on my carpet.  Ironic.

I found this on my computer and I can't remember what it means, but I like it.

January 30th, 2007 (12:29 am)

There is a little girl standing at the edge of a swimming pool, and her water-wings are crooked and her lifejacket doesn’t fit.  It is early in the afternoon, and the sunlight is watery and the concrete is white and the water is tepid and there are leaves on the surface that are rocking like little boats made of what leaves are made of.  There are lawn-chairs on the deck and a tall and empty lifeguard’s seat, which has a rescue ring dangling from it and a red cross painted on the back.  There is no one in the pool because of the tepidity and the leaves, and there is no one on the deck because the lawn-chairs are rusted and the concrete is white and hot and a sign on the fence that surrounds the deck says “No Shoes”.  The little girl is standing on the red rim the surrounds the edge of the pool, where water has splashed up and made the surface cool and wet and slippery.  It is quiet because it is hot and bright and tiring.  “You would have done it last summer when the water was tepid and the deck-chairs were old and there was nobody watching,” says a little voice in her ear.  So she cries and goes home.

Why You Really Can't Believe Everything You Read on Wikipedia

January 10th, 2007 (05:23 pm)

So I was doing some reading for Medieval Studies just now, and somehow became curious about something or other so I decided to consult handy-dandy Wikipedia for some good old fashioned general information, and somehow ended up reading about Homer.  So I'm reading along, it's a fairly bland but informative article, when suddenly...

"Tradition holds that Homer was blind, and various Ionian cities claim to be his birthplace, but otherwise there is not a lot known about Homer's life. There is no concrete evidence that shows that Homer was a real person. Bullshit! He was real and i can prove it copy and paste this in your address bar and it will take you back in time biotch! He was also a gay fucker."

Hm.

In Which I Geek Out

January 9th, 2007 (10:30 pm)

Check it:

I heartily partook of a 10+ hour Lord of the Rings Extended Edition marathon over the last three days of the holiday; I just bought a Lord of the Rings 2007 wall calendar which is quite possibly my favorite purchase that I have ever made (particularly considering it cost $5.65); I already have a Frodo poster on the back of my door; I also bought Ever After on DVD today, among other nerdy movies; AND I just took a book out from the library entitled "The Queen's Man: A Medieval Mystery".

I am GEEKING OUT.
